Light

Learning you was a curious thing, like watching a light flicker on in a distant building. I couldn’t touch you, and yet I called you home. I have nothing to remember you by save the echoes you burned on my irises.
Oh but your brightness made me smile. I gazed at you from far away, as if memorizing you would bring us closer. You glowed, something comforting, something warm. You stayed, always at a distance. And I waited as I always have, without expectation, only joy that the night could know such a beautiful light as you.
